Our strategic plan, formulated by teachers, parents, administration, and board members during the accreditation process, will focus on expanding the skills of our faculty as well as our facilities over the next five years. We are very fortunate to have the support of both the U.S. Embassy and the Office of Overseas Schools in this endeavor.
Already this year, this support has come through the generous donation of a generator by the Embassy, as well as increased access to classroom books and resources, as well as professional development for our teachers. Families can expect to see new standardized tests next year thanks to the financial support of the Office of Overseas Schools. This new test, called the MAP test, will allow us to test students regularly during the year and quickly receive reports on their performance and improvement.
We will also be sending four teachers to workshops in the U.S. sponsored by the Department of State and the Office of Overseas Schools this June. These workshops are on standards in the English Language Arts classroom and on technology in the classroom. This is very relevant to our academic program as we have been working on incorporating standards into our curriculum and curriculum maps over the past several years. We have also switched our technology offerings from a more basic computer course to a much broader approach called Educational Technology.

 
Four more teachers will have the opportunity to attend AP workshops at the end of the summer right here in Lomé. We have been adding AP classes to our high school offerings, and currently offer AP English, AP Environmental Science, and AP World History. With this training we intend to soon offer AP Calculus and AP French as well, with more expansions to in years to come.
It has been a pleasure to work with colleagues from the U.S. Embassy, the Office of Overseas Schools and Association of International Schools of Africa these past few months and we thank them for taking a hard look at the challenges facing very small international schools in Africa in general and for supporting the American International School of Lomé in particular.
